A 100-point scoring system
understood and used by all.

The rating system for wines varies among critics, with wines being rated /20 or /100. The 100-point rating system is the most common today. It was introduced by the famous American wine critic Robert Parker and has been adopted by most other international wine critics.

Thus, in general, an extraordinary wine in terms of complexity, depth and character will be rated between 98 and 100, a remarkable wine with exceptional characteristics will be rated between 94 and 97 points, an excellent wine will be rated between 90 and 93, a very good wine will be rated between 87 and 89 points and a good wine will be rated between 84 and 86. A wine rated between 80 and 83 points will be considered average, lacking character. A wine rated below 80 points will be considered mediocre, bad or with defects.
